Recent studies have made strides in Cognitive Optimization and Prediction (COPN), as highlighted in the NSF solicitation on Emerging Frontiers Research Initiation of 2007. However, the field still requires a more unified mathematical framework to bridge biological data with machine learning and collective intelligence. Addressing these gaps is crucial for advancing our understanding of cognition and its applications in various domains.

This Research Topic aims to explore and highlight how brain circuits can be modeled as intelligent systems, building on the fundamental principles and methodologies outlined by notable proponents.
