Background

Infertility, a significant global public health issue, affects approximately 15% of couples worldwide, with male factors contributing to half of these cases. The complexity of male infertility arises from a myriad of factors including genetic anomalies, chronic diseases, lifestyle choices, and environmental exposures. Oxidative stress, marked by an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidant defenses, has emerged as a critical player, potentially compromising spermatogenesis and steroidogenesis. The foundational Volume I of this series provided a thorough examination of the biochemical, molecular, and clinical facets of oxidative stress influencing male fertility.
This Research Topic aims to build upon the preliminary insights of the first volume by exploring lesser-known aspects of oxidative stress in male infertility, enhancing our understanding and opening new research avenues. Our goal is to deepen the scientific community's comprehension of oxidative stress's role in male infertility and to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

To gather further insights into this critical area, we welcome articles addressing the following themes:
o Emerging risk factors for male infertility
o Role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the male reproductive system
o Genetic causes of male infertility
o Biomarkers of oxidative stress in infertility
o The role of metabolomics in managing male infertility
o Role of alternative and complementary medicine in male infertility management
o The influence of research and diagnostic laboratories in infertility management
o Advances in infertility management
Through this collection, we aim to broaden the scope of research on male infertility, encouraging innovative approaches to its diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, based on the advancements laid out in the preceding volume.
