The Microbes and Disease section of Frontiers in Molecular Medicine is an open-access journal publishing high-quality original research, basic and translational, in the field of Microbiology that elucidate the molecular mechanisms of microbes-humans interaction at the molecular level, both in physiologic and pathological conditions.
Microbes and Disease is dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of bacteria, fungi, parasites, prions and viruses interactions (symbiotic and pathological) with human host also by exploring novel potential outcomes avoiding dogmatic approaches.
Manuscripts submitted to the section should illustrate the implications of the results for human medicine, at a level approachable by our audience.
Areas covered by this section include, but are not limited to:
• Virulence factors
• Host defence mechanisms and microbes evading strategies
• Novel models of microbe-host interaction
• Emerging pathogens
• Signal transduction
• Gene regulation
The section welcomes the following article types: Original Research, Review, Perspective, Editorial, General Commentary.
The journal will not consider purely descriptive studies, such as those that solely identify a new genomic sequence in pathogens or new pathogen variants. Paper providing novel mechanistic insight will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Indexed in: Google Scholar, CrossRef, CLOCKSS, OpenAIRE
Molecular Microbes and Disease welcomes submissions of the following article types: Brief Research Report, Correction, Data Report, Editorial, General Commentary, Hypothesis and Theory, Methods, Mini Review, Opinion, Original Research, Perspective, Review, Specialty Grand Challenge and Technology and Code.
All manuscripts must be submitted directly to the section Molecular Microbes and Disease, where they are peer-reviewed by the Associate and Review Editors of the specialty section.
