Background

In recent years, the field of radar and remote sensing has experienced significant advancements due to the evolution of signal processing techniques and the proliferation of sophisticated sensor technologies. Among these advancements, adaptive detection algorithms have emerged as key enablers for improving target detection performance in challenging environments characterized by non-stationary noise, clutter, and interference.

This Article Collection aims to bring together cutting-edge research and contemporary reviews on adaptive detection methodologies tailored for radar and remote sensing applications. We welcome original research articles, review papers, and case studies that address recent developments in theory, algorithms, and practical implementations. Of particular interest are contributions focused on:
· Design and analysis of novel adaptive detectors for complex environments
· Data-driven approaches leveraging machine learning, deep learning, and AI
· Robustness and computational efficiency under real-world constraints
· Adaptive detection in multi-sensor and distributed radar networks
· Applications to synthetic aperture radar (SAR), ground-penetrating radar (GPR), LiDAR, hyperspectral imaging, and other remote sensing modalities
· Performance evaluation in heterogeneous and dynamic operational scenarios

This collection seeks to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue, highlighting the synergy between signal processing, machine learning, and the expanding scope of radar/remote sensing technologies. We invite contributions from academic, industrial, and governmental researchers that showcase recent trends and explore future directions in adaptive detection for radar and remote sensing.
