Background: High-risk pregnancies are circumstances that pregnant women experience that are likely to lead to increased maternal and fetal complications or mortality. These complications, such as gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and placental dysfunction, need to be well managed to enhance the results. Such complications can be prevented or their severity reduced if they are diagnosed on time and intervention is made, improving the health of both the mother and the fetus. This systematic review aims to identify the current status of screening approaches and management strategies for high-risk pregnancy complications. Objectives: This systematic review is aimed at examining in-depth the screening and therapeutic measures in the management of pregnant women with high-risk conditions such as gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and placental abnormalities with the view of improving our understanding of early detection and treatment options. The study searched for research articles published in PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library from 2010 to 2024. The studies taken into consideration were those that assessed the presence of high-risk complications during pregnancy, including gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and placental disorders. Only studies of the randomised controlled trial, cohort, and case-control designs were eligible for inclusion. A narrative synthesis was done to assess the effectiveness of various screening approaches and interventions.Design: This study conducted a comprehensive systematic review of scholarly articles published from 2010 to 2024, focusing on the screening and management of high-risk pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and placental disorders.
