Summary of Best Evidence for Nutritional Management in Patients with Parkinson’s Disease

Background Nutrition management significantly affects the therapeutic effect and quality of life of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), but there is a lack of relevant evidence, and there is no comprehensive and scientific nutrition management program in clinic. Objective Evaluate and summarize the relevant evidence of nutrition management of PD patients at home and abroad to provide evidence-based basis for clinical doctors and nurses. Methods Computer search for Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, BMJBestPractice, UpToDate, ClinicalKey, CNKI, Wanfang data, VIP, China Biomedical Literature Database(CBM), Joana Briggs Institute(JBI) Evidence-based Health Care Center, Guidelines International Network (GIN), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), Scotland Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario(RNAO), Parkinson's UK, European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN), American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), Chinese Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition(CSPEN), and Yimaitong. To obtain the relevant evidence of PD nutrition management, including clinical practice guidelines, expert consensus, evidence summary, systematic review, Meta analysis and randomized controlled trials. The retrieval period was from the establishment of the database to May 2023. Two researchers evaluate the quality of the literature, and combined with professional judgment, extract and summarize the evidence of the literature that meet the quality evaluation criteria. Results A total of 16 studies were included, including 5 guides, 7 systematic reviews, 3 randomized controlled trials and 1 expert consensus. Combined with the judgment of professionals, the evidence was summarized from six aspects: nutrition risk screening, multidisciplinary team, nutrition assessment and monitoring, general nutrition support, nutrition support with digestive tract symptoms and other needs and diet management. form 26 pieces of the best evidence. Conclusion This study comprehensively and scientifically summarizes the best evidence of nutrition management of PD patients. Evidence users should consider the specific situation in the process of evidence transformation, and choose the best evidence according to the disease conditions and needs of patients, in order to formulate individualized and localized nutrition management programs for PD patients, so as to improve the quality of life of patients.
