Background

Cognitive neuroscience has made significant strides in understanding the mechanisms underlying emotional regulation and well-being. Despite these advancements, there remain critical gaps in our knowledge, particularly concerning the neural correlates and brain networks involved in these processes. Current research has highlighted the importance of emotional regulation in mental health, social interactions, and overall well-being. However, debates persist regarding the most effective methodologies for studying these phenomena, the reproducibility of findings, and the translation of research into practical interventions. Recent studies have employed advanced imaging techniques to map brain regions associated with emotional regulation, yet inconsistencies and non-reproducible results continue to challenge the field. Addressing these issues requires a concerted effort to produce high-quality, succinct research reports that can provide clear, actionable insights.

This research topic aims to compile Brief Research reports that significantly advance our understanding of emotional regulation and well-being. The primary objective is to gather original research and preliminary findings that address key questions in the field. These include identifying neural correlates of emotion regulation, understanding the brain systems involved, and exploring the interplay between emotional regulation and well-being. Negative results and reports on the non-reproducibility of previously published findings are also accepted, fostering a more comprehensive and transparent scientific discourse.

To gather further insights in the field of emotional regulation and well-being, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

- Neural correlates of emotion regulation using advanced imaging techniques
- Brain regions, systems, or networks involved in social emotion regulation
- The interplay of emotion regulation and well-being
- Emotion regulation, well-being, and addiction disorders
- Impaired emotion regulation
- Psychotherapeutics for emotion dysregulation
