Background

Viral diseases remain a significant global health challenge, causing widespread morbidity and mortality. Advances in molecular biology and phylogenetics have created opportunities for more precise diagnostics and effective vaccines. A deeper understanding of virus-host interactions is critical to improving diagnostic accuracy, guiding vaccine development, and enabling timely public health interventions. These insights are especially crucial in combating emerging and re-emerging viruses, which pose constant threats to global health systems.

This Research Topic seeks to address the pressing need for innovative approaches to viral diagnostics and vaccine development by exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying virus-host interactions. The aim is to bridge gaps in current knowledge, enhancing our understanding of viral evolution, pathogenesis, and epidemiology. By integrating advances in molecular techniques, phylogenetic analyses, and immunological insights, this collection aspires to catalyze the development of next-generation diagnostics and vaccines that are faster, more precise, and adaptable to emerging viral threats.
We welcome submissions across a broad spectrum of virology research, focusing on:
• Molecular host-virus interactions and their impact on diagnostics and vaccines.
• Phylogenetic insights into virus-host co-evolution, epidemiology, and immune escape.
• Host immune responses to viral infections and their role in diagnostics and vaccine efficacy.
• Molecular markers of viral pathogenicity and host susceptibility for vaccine strategies.
• Advancements in diagnostics driven by virus-host interactions for rapid and precise detection.
