Infections in Hematology: Advances in Diagnosis, Management, and Prevention in Benign and Malignant Disorders

Infections remain a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with hematologic disorders, ranging from benign cytopenias to aggressive hematologic malignancies. Despite recent advances in antimicrobial therapies, vaccination strategies, and supportive care, early diagnosis, risk stratification, and optimal management remain challenging. This Research Topic aims to consolidate the latest evidence on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnostics, prophylaxis, and therapeutic strategies for infections in patients with hematologic disorders. By fostering collaboration among clinicians and researchers worldwide, this collection seeks to identify unmet needs, highlight innovative approaches, and provide guidance for both common and rare infectious complications. Contributions will help improve patient outcomes and advance precision infection management in hematology.
