Diagnostic Challenges in Breast Carcinosarcoma: A Case Report of a Rare and Aggressive Tumor

This case report describes a rare breast carcinosarcoma in a 44-year-old female, highlighting the diagnostic challenges encountered across multiple hospitals. The case illustrates the difficulties in achieving a definitive diagnosis despite extensive imaging and pathological evaluations. It underscores the importance of considering breast carcinosarcoma in complex cases and the need for early, accurate diagnosis to guide effective treatment.The datasets generated during this case report are not publicly available due to patient privacy concerns. However, the clinical details and diagnostic challenges described in the manuscript are fully transparent to the authors and have been thoroughly documented for research purposes Abstract: Background and Objectives: Breast carcinosarcoma is rare. This article reports a case of diagnosis and treatment to enhance clinicians' understanding and experience in managing this disease. Methods: A 44-year-old patient with breast carcinosarcoma treated at the Breast Surgery Department of the First Hospital of Jilin University is reported, highlighting the challenges in the diagnostic process. Results: Postoperative pathology confirmed carcinosarcoma. The patient underwent mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, with no recurrence during follow-up. Conclusions: The nonspecific clinical manifestations of breast carcinosarcoma make preoperative diagnosis challenging, requiring a comprehensive diagnostic approach.
