Environmental economics and low-carbon transition have emerged as pivotal areas of research in response to the escalating challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation. This interdisciplinary field integrates economic principles with environmental management and policy to devise sustainable solutions that mitigate climate impacts. The current discourse is centered around the urgent need for energy efficiency, the adoption of renewable energy sources, and the transformation of land-use planning. Despite significant advancements, questions remain regarding the effectiveness of these measures and their integration into existing economic frameworks. Recent studies have highlighted the potential of renewable energy technologies and the importance of sustainable land-use planning in reducing carbon emissions. However, there is a pressing need to further explore low-carbon behaviors and the role of green finance in supporting sustainable initiatives. Addressing these gaps is crucial for developing comprehensive strategies that align economic growth with environmental sustainability.
This research topic aims to tackle the multifaceted challenges and opportunities presented by the low-carbon transition within the framework of environmental economics. We seek to explore innovative strategies and policies that can effectively reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable energy use. Key objectives include examining the effectiveness of energy efficiency measures, the potential of renewable energy development, and the impact of low-carbon land-use planning. Additionally, understanding the dynamics of low-carbon behavior in societies and the pivotal role of finance in supporting green initiatives are central to this research. Through these efforts, we aspire to contribute to the formulation of robust policies and strategies that align economic growth with environmental sustainability, ultimately aiding in climate change mitigation.
To gather further insights in the intersection of environmental economics and low-carbon transition, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
• energy efficiency innovations
• climate change mitigation strategies
• renewable energy technologies
• sustainable land-use planning
• low-carbon behavioral change
• the role of green and energy finance in supporting sustainable projects
• principles of a circular economy.
We seek manuscripts that offer new insights, empirical evidence, and forward-thinking perspectives that can inform policy and practice. Authors are encouraged to submit interdisciplinary work that combines elements of economics, environmental science, policy studies, and social sciences to provide a comprehensive view of the challenges and solutions in achieving a low-carbon future.
