Background

The tRNA epitranscriptome is a collective term that encompasses tRNA modifications, tRNA expression, tRNA aminoacylation, and tRNA derived small RNAs (tsRNAs). The tRNA epitranscriptome has emerged as an important regulator of diseases and physiologic processes. For example, changes in tRNA modifications or expression can alter codon decoding, which can promote the translation of pro-oncogenic transcripts. However, the complexity of tRNA epitranscriptome, and the need for special and advanced tools to study it, means that there is a lot to unravel regarding its role in physiology and pathology alike.

The goal of this collection is to provide novel insights into new advancements in the field of tRNA biology. The role of tRNA epitranscriptome in diseases is an evolving field, with many new insights coming from novel research identifying the influence and regulation of tRNA epitranscriptome in diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and neurodegeneration. In addition, there is a pressing need to address the technical hurdles and the new technical and methodological advancement in studying the tRNA epitranscriptome.

This topic accepts papers on, but not limited to:
• tRNA biology in diseases such as cancer, diabetes, neurodegeneration, and others.
• The role of tRNA epitranscriptome in physiologic processes such as cell differentiation, cell death, stem cell maturation, etc.
• Technical articles reporting novel methods to study the tRNA epitranscriptome.
• Review articles that address controversies and provide novel insights into the field of tRNA biology, with special emphasis on technical reviews.
• Computational biology articles providing novel insights into the tRNA biology and codon decoding regulation as well as novel bioinformatics tools to study tRNA biology
