Background

The adverse impacts of climate change are intensifying across the globe with local communities and regions facing increasingly frequent and intense extreme weather events such as heatwaves, droughts, floods and wildfires.

Coastal regions are particularly vulnerable, being at the forefront of rapidly rising sea levels, while other areas are witnessing biodiversity collapse. In the face of these multi-crises, governments, scientists and communities alike recognize the need for holistic approaches that can adequately address these complex challenges.

Inspired by the EU-funded ARSINOE project, this Research Topic examines the unique role of systemic approaches in seeking long-term solutions and supporting innovation for climate-resilience in local communities and regions.
