Oxidative and reductive stress (together constituting redox imbalance) play pivotal roles across the obstetric and gynaecologic continuum, from gametogenesis and implantation to placental function, foetal development, and parturition. This Research Topic invites basic, clinical, and translational investigations that clarify how redox biology shapes sexual and reproductive wellness across the spectrum of human gender, and how these insights can be leveraged to improve outcomes in fertility care, pregnancy, and gynaecologic health.
We welcome submissions addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
• Identification, validation, and clinical translation of redox biomarkers (including multi-omics panels) in obstetric and gynaecologic care • Imaging innovations that quantify or map redox-related pathophysiology • Predictive modelling and decision-support tools integrating redox measures with clinical and demographic data • Comparative effectiveness research on dietary, lifestyle, pharmacologic, and technological interventions targeting redox balance • Personalised approaches that tailor prevention and treatment to individual redox profiles across the life course • Studies that interrogate redox signalling in placentation, preeclampsia, foetal growth restriction, preterm birth, gestational diabetes, and perinatal outcomes • Contributions on oxidative and reductive stress in ovarian reserve, endometrial receptivity, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, fibroids, gynaecologic oncology, and pelvic inflammatory processes
By integrating mechanistic science with diagnostics, imaging, risk stratification, and therapeutics, we aim to accelerate advances that improve obstetric outcomes, perinatal health, fertility success, and gynaecologic care.
