Background

We are entering the third decade of the 21st century, witnessing extraordinary breakthroughs across various scientific domains, notably in the dynamic domain of Genetics. These developments have significantly propelled forward our understanding and capabilities within the field, revealing both new opportunities and complex challenges. Frontiers has organized a series of Research Topics to highlight the latest advancements in research across the field of Genetics, with articles from all researchers, including the members of our accomplished Editorial Boards.

This editorial initiative of particular relevance, led by Dr. Jiannis (Ioannis) Ragoussis, Specialty Chief Editor (McGill University) of Genomic Assay Technology, together with Dr. Honey V Redd (Medical College of Wisconsin) is focused on new insights, current challenges, latest discoveries, and future perspectives in the field of Genomic Assay Technologies.

This Research Topic seeks to illuminate the monumental strides achieved over the past decade within Genomic Assay Technology and to articulate the forthcoming challenges. We aspire to foster a comprehensive dialogue that encapsulates state-of-the-art developments, transformative achievements, and pivotal areas requiring attention to advance the discipline. To gather further insights within this field, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

· Pathways and mechanisms regulating genomes

· High-throughput genomic and screening platforms, including robotic assay technologies

· Imaging and cytometry (including super- and ultraresolution microscopy) approaches,

· Analytical instrumentation and methods, including mass spectrometry, magnetic resonance, and chromatography

· Computational issues in data storage, management, and manipulation

· Examination of limiting quantities of nucleic acids, such as single cells and molecules

· Emerging technologies for sequencing DNA and RNA molecules

Submissions should provide detailed, in-depth knowledge about the development and application of genomic assay technologies and their role in understanding the complex relationship between genotype and phenotype.

Dr. Yuxuan Wang is a consultant to Belay Diagnostics and Dr. Honey Reddi is an employee of Belay Diagnostics. All other Topic Editors declare no competing interests with regards to the Research Topic subject.
