In the published article [D’Alessandro & Mariani, 2021] was not cited in the article. The citation has now been inserted in [Introduction], [Paragraph Number 2] and should read:

“eDNA metabarcoding in fact emphasises the taxonomic units rather than pools and fluxes of energy, biomass or nutrients, enabling accurate and cost-effective biodiversity assessments (D’Alessandro and Mariani, 2021; Kelly et al., 2017, 201; Stat et al., 2019), which leads to Molecular Ecological Network Analysis (MENA - Deng et al., 2012; Stat et al., 2019).”
