About this Research Topic

Background

Although cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide and in more than half of the patients over 70 yo, older people continue to be under-represented in cardiovascular studies. In addition, as aging is associated with increased comorbidities, patients tend to be more complex, poly-medicated, and with more cardiovascular risk factors.

This Research Topic will focus on the current knowledge about older people with cardiovascular diseases to optimize the prevention, treatment, and management of these patients.

Researchers are encouraged to submit articles such as Original Research, Reviews, Mini-reviews, Methods, Clinical Trials, Perspectives, and Opinions relevant to this article collection that will cover topics such as (but not limited to):

1. Atrial fibrillation in older people

2. Cardiorenal disease in older people

3. Sex differences in the management of cardiovascular disease in older people

4. Acute coronary syndrome in older people

5. Chronic coronary syndrome in older people
