Background

The field of nano-preparations in drug delivery systems is rapidly evolving, offering promising diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities through the use of nanogels, polymeric nanomaterials, and nanocrystals. These nano-platforms exhibit unique properties that surpass those of traditional materials, enabling the development of innovative drug delivery systems. Recent advancements in the fabrication and synthesis of these nano-platforms have expanded the range of materials that can be utilized. Such nano-preparations can be merged with high and low-molecular-weight materials and can be engineered to bind these materials with varying potencies.

Despite these advancements, a comprehensive understanding of nanomaterial design is crucial to optimize drug delivery systems. The primary challenge remains the efficient delivery of therapeutic agents to target sites, overcoming various biological barriers. Current research highlights the potential of polymeric nanomaterials, nanogels, and nanocrystals in pharmaceuticals and nanotechnology, yet there is a need for further exploration to fully understand their capabilities. Addressing these gaps will enhance the development of nanoscale preparations that maintain a consistent therapeutic active drug concentration at the target site with minimal interindividual variability.

This Research Topic aims to explore the design and application of nano-preparations in drug delivery systems, focusing on the synthesis, characterization, and utilization of polymeric nanomaterials, nanogels, and nanocrystals. The objective is to advance the understanding of how these materials can be engineered to improve drug delivery efficiency and therapeutic outcomes.
