The Nanodevices section publishes cutting-edge advances in the rational design, fabrication, characterization and application of devices at the nanoscale. This encompasses a broad range of technologies in terms of nanomaterials preparation, device design and processing, miniaturization, packaging, performance characterization and applications. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Nanosensor and nanoactuator devices
• Nanoelectronics and nanomagnetics
• Molecular electronics
• Biomimmetic devices
• Nanofluidic systems
• Nano electro-mechanical systems (NEMS)
• Nanogenerators for energy harvesting
This section also encourages articles on technologies for the integration of multi-scale devices into functional systems, and the application and commercialization of nanodevices across all areas. Articles with a strong focus on biomedical and environmental applications may be better suited to the sister Biomedical Nanotechnology and Environmental Nanotechnology sections within this journal. Articles solely focusing on life cycle assessment and the environmental/societal impact of nanodevice technologies do not fall within the scope of this section.

Nanodevices welcomes submissions of the following article types: Correction, Editorial, Field Grand Challenge, Methods, Mini Review, Original Research, Review, Specialty Grand Challenge and Technology and Code.
All manuscripts must be submitted directly to the section Nanodevices, where they are peer-reviewed by the Associate and Review Editors of the specialty section.
Articles published in the section Nanodevices will benefit from the Frontiers impact and tiering system after online publication. Authors of published original research with the highest impact, as judged democratically by the readers, will be invited by the Chief Editor to write a Frontiers Focused Review - a tier-climbing article. This is referred to as "democratic tiering". The author selection is based on article impact analytics of original research published in all Frontiers specialty journals and sections. Focused Reviews are centered on the original discovery, place it into a broader context, and aim to address the wider community across all of Nanotechnology.
