Background

Robot-assisted surgery, also known as robotic surgery, is an emerging innovation in the field of orthopedics. This technology offers numerous advantages over conventional surgical techniques, such as precise manipulation, convenient intraoperative navigation, and the potential for remote control. In recent years, there has been a surge in evidence supporting the application of robot-assisted techniques in orthopedic surgery, driven by the increasing demand from patients for higher precision and minimally invasive procedures. As a result, various types of robot-specialized orthopedic surgeries have become commercially available and more affordable. Despite these advancements, there remains a critical need for novel ideas, techniques, and evidence to further elucidate the future of robot-assisted orthopedic surgery. This includes addressing existing gaps in knowledge, ongoing debates, and the need for better investigation into the efficacy and safety of these technologies.

This research topic aims to provide readers, researchers, and surgeons with a comprehensive overview of the current state and future perspectives of robot-assisted orthopedic surgery. The primary objective is to focus on existing developments and future directions in the field, presenting novel surgical skills, methods, and experiences to enhance robot-assisted orthopedic surgery. Additionally, the research seeks to discuss the impact of these advancements, particularly in the areas of intraoperative navigation, intraoperative positioning, training, and assistive techniques. By doing so, the research aims to advance insights into orthopedic surgical robots and gather clinically feasible solutions to minimize surgical trauma and facilitate clinical adoption.

To gather further insights in the realm of robot-assisted orthopedic surgery, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
- Advances and differences between robot-assisted orthopedic surgery and traditional orthopedic surgery
- Safety and efficacy of orthopedic surgery robotics
- Training for surgical techniques in orthopedic surgery robotics
- Intraoperative navigation
- Rehabilitation and assistive technologies after orthopedic surgeries
