Led by Field Chief Editor, Professor Jonathan Cooper, Frontiers in Lab on a Chip Technologies serves as a Gold Open Access multidisciplinary journal, aiming to disseminate influential and high-impact research on all topics related to fabrication and use of micro and nano-scale technology.

The goal of this Research Topic, led by Specialty Chief Editors Prof. Pedro Estrela, Dr Angeliki Tserepi and Prof. Xiangchun Xuan, is to reflect on the past year, showcase ongoing cutting-edge research and novel developments, and to discover new insights and outlook on the future of the field as a whole.

Authors are encouraged to consider the greatest challenges in their respective sub-disciplines, and how to address those challenges within:

• Environmental Sensors, Sustainability and Reaching Net-Zero

• Imaging and Detection

• Medical Diagnostics

• Micro- and Nano-Total Analysis Systems
