This Research Topic encompasses research, methodologies, and perspectives showcased at the 17th Brazilian Symposium on Bioinformatics (BSB 2024). The symposium gathered leading scientists and innovators dedicated to advancing computational biology and bioinformatics.
All BSB 2024 participants are invited to contribute their research and discussions from the symposium. Submissions will be handled by BSB organizers as Topic Editors, alongside expert reviewers.
Submissions should adhere to one of the Frontiers in Bioinformatics Article Types, including but not limited to: Original Research, Review, Method, Technology and Code, Perspective, Data Report, or Research Report.
This multidisciplinary Research Topic welcomes contributions related to any aspect of bioinformatics and computational biology, such as: o Genomics and epigenomics o Transcriptomics and RNA analysis o Proteomics and protein modeling o Systems biology and computational modelling (Frontiers in Systems Biology) o Bioinformatics tools and software development o Population genetics and evolutionary biology
We also invite submissions addressing broader themes about how computational innovations enhance discovery and communication in the life sciences, education, and public engagement. Relevant topics include: o Machine learning and AI applications o Big data analytics and management o Bioinformatics in personalized medicine o Computational methods in public health o Integrating bioinformatics with ecological and environmental studies
For instance, submissions can explore how AI-driven models are applied in genomic research or discuss new bioinformatics tools enhancing disease understanding and treatment strategies. Contributions not authored by BSB 2024 participants may be considered for publication in other relevant collections of Frontiers in Bioinformatics or at a sectional level.
