The Integrative Bioinformatics section of Frontiers in Bioinformatics publishes high-quality fundamental and translational research across all aspects of integrative bioinformatics, an important part of biological data integration that investigates all aspects of multi-omics data from pre-processing and resource providing to analysis and scientific discovery.The section focuses on the cutting-edge multi-omics methodologies and tools for data integration in the life sciences, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, immunomics, glycomics, RNomics, phenomics, radiomics and the other kind of omics data generated by emerging high-throughput techniques. This specialty section aims to develop a multi-disciplinary academic approach to biological data integration. The section publishes rigorously peer-reviewed significant advances in areas including, but not limited to:
• Multi-omics data integration method
• Data imputation and preprocessing in multi-omics data
• Computational methods for multi-omics data mining
• Computational systems and network biology
• Heterogeneous data analysis
• Machine learning methods in data integration
• Deciphering disease mechanism by integrating data
• Integrative omics database and open-source tool
Integrative bioinformatics aims to provide a forum for sharing methods, tools, as well as new discoveries by integrating clinical, structural and genetic information. All studies must describe technical innovation either in the development or improvement of a computational model and method to a biological problem by data integration. Reports dealing only with the routine application of existing or conventional computational technologies do not fall within the scope of this section and should be submitted to more specialized journals.

Integrative Bioinformatics welcomes submissions of the following article types: Brief Research Report, Case Report, Correction, Data Report, Editorial, General Commentary, Hypothesis and Theory, Methods, Mini Review, Opinion, Original Research, Perspective, Policy Brief, Review, Systematic Review and Technology and Code.
All manuscripts must be submitted directly to the section Integrative Bioinformatics, where they are peer-reviewed by the Associate and Review Editors of the specialty section.
