Background

Nanoscience and nanotechnology have emerged as transformative sciences with extensive applications addressing critical biomedical challenges. Recent developments in functional nanomaterials, particularly gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), gold nanorods (AuNRs), gold nanostars (AuNSts), silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), and others, have significantly advanced drug delivery systems, biosensing platforms, and therapeutic approaches. Health-related issues, including emerging diseases and chronic conditions with global impact, continue to pose significant threats to human well-being. Despite progress in diagnosis and treatment strategies, challenges remain in developing widely accessible, effective, and rapid nanodiagnostic tools capable of addressing diverse healthcare needs on a global scale.

This Research Topic aims to consolidate current advancements and innovative approaches in the application of nanotechnological strategies, specifically targeting nanodiagnostics, to effectively detect, diagnose, monitor, and potentially manage various diseases. By highlighting promising methodologies, novel biosensors, drug carriers, and multifunctional nanomaterials, we seek to drive translational research forward, enabling breakthroughs in clinical diagnostics and therapeutics. Additionally, we aim to critically examine existing challenges, stimulate cross-disciplinary collaboration, and foster advancements that rapidly adapt from laboratory settings to clinical use, ultimately benefiting human health worldwide.

We will accept Original Research, Review, and Mini Review articles. To gather further insights within the scope of nanodiagnostics and nanomaterial applications in healthcare, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

• Novel nanodiagnostic platforms and technologies

• Advances in nano-enabled biosensors for disease detection

• Development and evaluation of nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery systems
