This Research Topic seeks to showcase the work of pioneering scientists, the next generation of research leaders, and established leaders in the field of drug discovery, interpreted in the broadest sense. Our intention is to bring together a collection of articles spanning the breadth of the field and exploring a wide range of future research directions. Contributions could be theoretical or computational, or present experimental data from any field of drug discovery. Original reports, reviews, mini-reviews, perspectives, methods papers, linked to first-in-class molecules, innovative drug targets, original approaches in cheminformatics and computer-aided drug discovery, wet or in silico high-throughput screening, novel screening approaches to analyze Big chemical Data, or novel in vivo models of disease will be especially encouraged.
To be considered for publication in this collection, the first or last author must qualify as either an early career researcher or a senior researcher, as described below.
Early career researchers whose work is featured in the collection will be those recognized for their success and potential to influence future directions, and are within 10 years of completing their PhD, or within 5 years of their first independent position. In exceptional cases, current PhD candidates will be considered. Established leaders / senior researchers are those recognized for their years of experience and significant contributions to their area of study, with 25+ years in a research or academic position. The Research Topic will also accept contributions from retired researchers.
This project not only celebrates the work of seasoned researchers who have shaped the field with drug discovery advancements, but also emphasizes the important of nurturing the next generation of scientists in furthering scientific breakthroughs. The editorial team also encourages collaborative manuscripts featuring both senior and early career researchers.
Researchers featured in the collection will be selected by the editorial team following nominations by Frontiers readers, members of the broader community, or by the editorial team itself. If you would like your work to be considered for this collection, please submit your manuscript summary (<200 words) directly via the Topic webpage.
Original reports, reviews, mini-reviews, perspectives and methods papers are welcomed. Accepted articles will be available in this collection as soon as they are published.
