  2. This Research Topic is currently accepting articles.

Background

Focusing on the current hot topics in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) research, this collection will address the ongoing challenges and open questions regarding biomarkers, histological changes and differences, and treatment efficacy. Key areas of interest include the identification and validation of serum proteomic signatures for various stages of MASH, the relationship between adipose tissue changes and liver histology, and the efficacy of current pharmacotherapies such as THR-Beta agonists and GLP1 Singular and duel agonists. The collection will delve into the complexities of correlating non-invasive biomarkers with histological improvements and discuss the potential of 'liquid biopsy' techniques in clinical practice, aiming to provide a roadmap for future studies in this rapidly evolving field. Studies in paediatric and young adult populations are also welcomed. Furthermore, the collection will welcome analysis in the changes in histological analysis to evaluate and quantitatively interpret disease components that are replacing pathological representation of MASH with the addition of digitalisation.
