We are in the middle of yet another renaissance of Artificial Intelligence. We believe that this time it will be different. Compared to the previous ones, we now not only have the futuristic ideas but we also have or are developing the necessary resources needed to make them happen, e.g. data, computing power/infrastructure, advanced algorithms, etc. Today’s increasingly more competitive business world needs artificial intelligence to leverage the most out of their limited assets to survive and to thrive.
The mission of this journal and its section on AI in Business is to attract and publish cutting-edge research articles and, importantly, article collections that involve designing, developing, and deploying Artificial Intelligence methods and methodologies towards solving complex business problems. Manuscripts that report on studies where a fine balance is maintained between method/methodology development and business application are highly suitable for submission. Topics of relevance always relate to business and include but are not limited to:
· Business understanding and problem identification
· Data identification and understanding
· Data acquisition and consolidation
· Internet of things (IoT)-based data acquisition
· Data cleaning, preparation, and transformation
· Feature engineering
· Variable selection

AI in Business welcomes submissions of the following article types: Brief Research Report, Code, Core Concept, Correction, Data Report, General Commentary, Hypothesis and Theory, Methods, Mini Review, New Discovery, Opinion, Original Research, Perspective, Review, Specialty Grand Challenge and Technology Report.
All manuscripts must be submitted directly to the section AI in Business, where they are peer-reviewed by the Associate and Review Editors of the specialty section.
Articles published in the section AI in Business will benefit from the Frontiers impact and tiering system after online publication. Authors of published original research with the highest impact, as judged democratically by the readers, will be invited by the Chief Editor to write a Frontiers Focused Review - a tier-climbing article. This is referred to as "democratic tiering". The author selection is based on article impact analytics of original research published in all Frontiers specialty journals and sections. Focused Reviews are centered on the original discovery, place it into a broader context, and aim to address the wider community across all of Artificial Intelligence.
