As a significant conduit of urban culture, the development of industrial heritage tourism holds considerable importance for perpetuating urban memory and cultural heritage. The purpose of this paper is twofold: firstly, to explore the influence of tourism preference and perceived quality on the revisit intention of industrial heritage tourism in waterfront areas; and secondly, to further study the influencing factors and mechanisms of industrial heritage tourism. The conceptual model of "tourism preference-perceived quality-intention to revisit" is constructed through the structural equation modeling method, and empirical analyses are carried out with the case of waterfront industrial heritage in Shanghai. The findings of the study indicate that the preferences of visitors for the public space environment and the industrial culture spirit have a significant effect on their perception of quality and intention to revisit. In addition, the study identifies ambient context perception and physical context perception as key factors affecting revisit intention. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of the mechanisms that influence revisit intention, while also offering practical guidance for the marketing strategy and tourism experience optimization of industrial heritage tourist sites.
