Background

Frontiers in Neurology is delighted to present a ‘Reviews in’ series of article collections, "Reviews in Neurogenetics", which will publish high-quality scholarly review papers on a range of key topics within the Neurogenetics field. Some of the most fascinating basic and clinical translational research in neurology and human genetics is being conducted in the field of neurogenetics.

Numerous fundamental mechanisms driving neurological disorders are still obscure or understudied. In order to create the next generation of medicines to treat neurological disorder, genetics and proteomics (the study of proteins created by genes) can help us better understand the predisposition to diseases. Opportunities to better define neurological syndromes, comprehend the course of neurological diseases, and improve clinical therapies are provided by advances in genetics and new technology. Another issue arises as genetic knowledge and applications for treating neurological illnesses grow: teaching clinical neurologists to employ genetic analysis and genomics.

Of particular interest to the Guest Editors are the following:

• Value of polygenic risk scores in neurodegenerative disorders diagnosis prediction, prognosis and research models.

• Joint forces: combining new technologies with classic biomarkers and genetic risk to better predict neurodegenerative disorders.

• What have we learnt from microRNAs studies in neurodegenerative disorders?
• The genetic basis of various neurological disorders.

• New genes old phenotypes, old genes new phenotypes.

• New genetic treatments for neurogenetic disorders.

• Polygenic risk scores and its use in neurodegenerative disorders.

• How have advances in genetic technology modified neurology nosology.

This Research Topic will lead the way in unveiling the future of Neurogenetics research as it develops, and we look forward to welcoming your contribution.
