Background

Exercise and physical activity are key in the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases. While exercise and physical activity are evidence based and valuable for the general population, it has become increasingly important to personalize exercise therapy to maximize its therapeutic effect and support long-term adherence.

This Research Topic will identify the key variables for establishing a personalized approach to a lifelong heart and healthy active lifestyle.

The Topic Editors welcome submissions addressing personalized exercise and activity. All manuscript types are encouraged including original research, reviews, and methods articles. Sub-themes for this Research Topic include, but not limited to, the following:
• Mechanisms / Genetic / Epigenetic
• Inter-individual responses to exercise: genetic background and the environment
• Physiological and psychological response to tailored exercise intervention and potential mechanisms
