Background

Systems immunology is an interdisciplinary field that integrates immunology, computational biology, and systems biology to study the immune system as a complex and dynamic network. By leveraging computational modeling, large-scale data analysis, and mathematical frameworks, this approach aims to uncover the mechanisms that regulate immune responses, predict system behavior under different conditions, and design more effective diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Computational methods play a crucial role in simulating immune interactions, identifying biomarkers, optimizing vaccine development, and understanding immune dysregulation in diseases such as cancer and autoimmunity.

In Hispanic America, where genetic and environmental diversity significantly influence immune responses, computational modeling provides powerful tools to analyze these complexities. Despite infrastructural and technological challenges, the region has seen notable progress in systems immunology research, with growing contributions in predictive modeling, network-based analyses, and artificial intelligence applications in immunology.

This Research Topic seeks to highlight key advances in computational modeling and its applications in systems immunology within Hispanic America. We welcome contributions from Hispanic researchers worldwide, as well as scientists of any nationality conducting research in the region, to showcase novel approaches that drive innovation in immunological research.
