About this Research Topic

Submission deadlines

  1. Manuscript Submission Deadline 31 March 2026

  2. This Research Topic is currently accepting articles.

Background

Aortic surgery and endovascular repair are at the forefront of treating aortic diseases that start from the aortic valve, such as diseased bicuspid aortic valve, aortic root, aortic aneurysms ,and dissections. Due to rapid advancements in surgical techniques, device technology, and imaging, the management of these pathologies has become both more effective and less invasive but sometimes even more complex and comprehensive.

Objectives:

This Research Topic aims to investigate the latest innovations in open and endovascular approaches to aortic repair. We seek to highlight significant improvements in patient outcomes and overall quality of care, examining both current practices and emerging techniques.

Scope of Contributions:

Imaging and Diagnostic Advances:

o The role of advanced imaging in planning and executing repairs and the development of intraoperative imaging and navigation tools.

Advanced Surgeries of the aortic valve/ root:

o Advanced aortic valve/root surgeries including valve/root repair, enlargements, replacement, rapid deployment valves etc.

Surgical Techniques and Innovations:

o Advances in open surgical methods and hybrid approaches that combine surgical and endovascular techniques.

Endovascular Device Development:

o Innovations in stent graft design, deployment, and the evaluation of new materials in endovascular repair.

Outcomes and Complication Management:

o Analysis of long-term patient outcomes post-intervention and strategies for complication reduction and enhanced recovery.

Case Studies and Clinical Trials:

o Reporting on complex cases and innovative solutions, including findings from recent clinical trials and their practical implications.

By consolidating the latest research and clinical experiences in the field, this Research Topic aims to enrich the understanding and practices surrounding aortic surgery and endovascular repair, ultimately leading to enhanced patient care.
