Advancing Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies for Uveitis

Non-infectious uveitis is a group of serious conditions characterized by intraocular inflammation that, if inadequately managed, can lead to significant visual impairment. Current management strategies primarily include the use of corticosteroids, immunosuppressive agents and biologics, yet patients often suffer from persistent side effects and frequent relapses. This highlights the critical need for innovative diagnostic tools and more effective therapeutic approaches to improve patient outcomes and reduce disease burden.

This Research Topic aims to deepen the understanding of the epidemiological and clinical aspects of uveitis, focusing on the development of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. It seeks to explore the utility of new treatment approaches, as well as to foster the discovery and validation of new diagnostic markers that could help with patient management. Furthermore, the goal includes analyzing the care of uveitis patients with systemic autoimmune and autoinflammatory conditions, understanding various etiologies, and improving the assessment of visual outcomes.

To gather further insights into the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of pediatric and adult non-infectious uveitis, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

   •  Uveitis and its association with systemic diseases.
   •  Advances in multimodal imaging in uveitis.
   •  Advanced treatment strategies for uveitis management.
   •  Novel diagnostic markers and potential therapeutic targets.
   •  Impacts of uveitis on visual health and quality of life.

Although this Research Topic focuses on non-infectious uveitis, we would welcome articles on infectious uveitis if they address the latest developments and novelties in the field.
