Background

Tissue regeneration research has entered a transformative era, marked by advanced tools and model systems that allow us to probe the molecular and cellular events underlying successful repair. Yet, progress in this field is often slowed by disciplinary silos—where discoveries in one injury model, organ system, or species remain isolated from others.
This Research Topic invites contributions from all organisms and methods, including analysis and bioengineering, so that we might connect regeneration across boundaries—be they between different tissues, technologies, or species. We welcome submissions that illuminate shared molecular mechanisms, introduce or refine new techniques, or provide comparative insights across models of injury and repair.
Submissions may include but not limited to:
• Original research articles, short research articles, data-reports and research reports sharing novel technical advances or data that bridge systems or species.
• Methodological papers that standardize, adapt, or validate approaches for studying regeneration.
• Comparative or conceptual pieces that highlight common cellular pathways across different types of injury, from skin and bone to nerve and heart.
This Research Topic aims to build a resource for a shared language among regeneration research—one that unites diverse experimental systems to accelerate discovery and translation.
