Chemical Reaction Engineering is central to every aspect of chemical industry: from refinery, petrochemistry, fine chemistry, biorefinery, green chemistry, to biotechnology. The reactor is the heart of any chemical processes, and its design, based on optimized reaction conditions, is fundamental for the industrial success. The study of the reactions for a correct design in the scale-up from the laboratory to the industrial process is the main object of Chemical Reaction Engineering.
The specialty Chemical Reaction Engineering within Frontiers in Chemical Engineering aims to be a reference for both scientists and engineers involved in studying chemical reactions and chemical reactors to optimize the yield and the safety of chemical industrial processes. We invite you to submit paper on chemical reaction engineering themes, such as:
- Fundamental concepts in chemical reaction thermodynamics and kinetics
- Mass and energy balances for homogenous ideal and not ideal reactors
- Batch, semi-batch and continuous operation
- Minimization of by-product and pollution production
- Heterogenous reactions, effect of heat and mass transfer on the global rate
Research articles with solid theoretical and experimental background in Chemical Reaction Engineering will be considered for publication. Kinetic and mass/heat transfer phenomena should be depicted in detail to the description of experimental data. Both experimental work and modelling should be described in detail to allow the readers to reproduce the work, bridging the experimental lab-scale work to the industrial R&D sector. New reactor and modelling concepts are welcome to be published in this specialty. We also welcome research at the frontiers of Chemical Reaction Engineering, for example, intensification of the chemical processes, microreactors, or microwave reactors.
