Coronary heart disease (CHD) and cancer are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, imposing significant health and economic burdens on countries. Although commonly viewed as distinct diseases, CHD and cancer share several common risk factors, which suggests that their underlying biological mechanisms may overlap. Machine learning (ML), through its ongoing advancements, has significantly enhanced predictive capabilities in medicine. This review aims to summarize the shared risk factors between CHD and cancer and to evaluate the current status of research on prediction in patients with these conditions using ML models, thereby providing valuable insights for clinicians and researchers.
