Background

Immunotherapy has emerged as a groundbreaking approach in oncology, offering new hope in the management of gynecological cancers, which include ovarian, endometrial, cervical, and vulvar cancers. These cancers present unique challenges due to their complexity and the varying therapeutic responses among patients. Immunotherapy utilizes the body's immune system, enhancing its capability to recognize and combat cancer cells. Despite its promise, there are still considerable obstacles to overcome, such as understanding the mechanisms behind immunoresistance and optimizing patient-specific treatment strategies.

This Research Topic aims to explore the comprehensive landscape of immunotherapy in the treatment of gynecological cancers, examining both its successes and limitations. We seek to understand the different responses to immunotherapy across various types of gynecological cancers and to investigate the reasons behind the varying degrees of efficacy, particularly focusing on the biological mechanisms that contribute to immunoresistance.

To gather further insights into the intricacies of immunotherapy applications in gynecological cancers, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

• The tumor microenvironment and immune characteristics of gynecological cancers.
• Mechanisms of immune evasion and resistance in gynecological cancers.
• Strategies for managing immune-related adverse events.
• Clinical outcomes from new trials and studies of immunotherapies, including immune checkpoint inhibitors.
• Synergistic effects of combining immunotherapy with other cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
• Identification of potential biomarkers that predict the efficacy of immunotherapy.
• Personalized approaches in immunotherapy for enhancing treatment precision.
• Developing new therapeutic modalities to overcome immunotherapy resistance in gynecological cancers.

We encourage submissions of various article types such as original research articles, review articles, clinical trial results, methodologies, hypotheses or theories, perspectives, opinions, and commentaries related to this Research Topic.
