Background

Multiple myeloma (MM) remains a complex and heterogeneous hematologic malignancy with evolving therapeutic challenges. In recent years, immunotherapy has emerged as a transformative approach in MM management, with modalities such as bispecific T-cell engagers (BiTEs), chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells, recombinant T-cell receptors (rTCRs), oncolytic viruses, and therapeutic vaccines showing promising efficacy. However, variable responses and resistance mechanisms highlight the need for a deeper understanding of the tumor immune microenvironment (TME) and the pathways involved in tumor immune evasion.

In this Research Topic, we seek to bridge the gap between molecular research and clinical practice, fostering translational progress in the treatment of multiple myeloma. We welcome original research articles, reviews, mini-reviews and case reports in the following areas:

--Clinical and preclinical studies on immunotherapeutic strategies for MM, including BiTEs, CAR-T, rTCRs, oncolytic viruses, and vaccine-based approaches.
--Characterization of the MM TME, with a focus on immune suppression, stromal interactions, and cellular composition.
--Molecular and multi-omics analyses (including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics) investigating mechanisms of action and resistance to immunotherapy.
--Innovations in liquid biopsy approaches to monitor disease progression, therapeutic response, and minimal residual disease in MM.
--Applications of next-generation sequencing (NGS) in the clinical management of MM patients, including disease stratification, mutation tracking, and personalized therapy selection.


Please note that manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics or computational analysis of public genomic or transcriptomic databases which are not accompanied by robust and relevant validation (clinical cohort or biological validation in vitro or in vivo) are out of scope for this Research Topic.
