May is National Cancer Research Month. At Frontiers in Oncology, we are dedicated to spotlighting the groundbreaking discoveries transforming the landscape of cancer research and the unwavering dedication of the scientific community. We want to highlight recent discoveries in the field and raise awareness about the significance of early diagnosis, multidisciplinary management, and the pivotal role of technological innovation in combating cancers. We also want to inspire collaboration among researchers, healthcare professionals, patients, and the public.

Cancer research encompasses a wide array of disciplines and innovative approaches to understand the complexities of cancer biology, discover new therapeutic strategies, and improve diagnostic and prevention methods. By spotlighting the latest breakthroughs and clinical trials, National Cancer Research Month emphasizes the importance of continued investment in research to accelerate progress and deliver life-saving treatments.

One of the foundational aspects of cancer research is the development of advanced diagnostic tools that enable the early detection of cancer, which is crucial for improving survival rates and treatment success. Please note: manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics or computational analysis of public genomic or transcriptomic databases that are not accompanied by validation (independent cohort or biological validation in vitro or in vivo) are out of the scope for this section and will not be accepted as part of this Research Topic.
