Background

Neurological disorders represent a significant global health burden, with rising prevalence due to aging populations and lifestyle changes. Many studies suggest that factors such as dietary habits, environmental exposures, and individual lifestyle choices, along with pharmacological interventions aimed at addressing lifestyle (e.g., medications for sleep disorders, obesity, and smoking cessation) and environmental issues (e.g., chelating agents for heavy metal toxicity), play critical roles in both the onset and progression of these disorders, as well as in determining therapeutic outcomes.
Understanding these relationships offers new avenues for prevention and treatment, emphasizing the need for integrative approaches in managing neurological disorders.

The goal of this Research Topic is to consolidate cutting-edge research that examines the roles of nutritional, environmental, and lifestyle factors in neurological disorders.

We aim to provide a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms and potential therapeutic and preventive interventions, promoting holistic approaches to neurological health management. By bringing together diverse perspectives, this collection will provide insights that can inform future research, clinical practices, and public health strategies.

This Research Topic welcomes original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, case reports that address:

- Neuroimmune modulation through dietary and pharmacological means

- Pharmacological interventions targeting lifestyle and environmental factors

- Neuroprotective effects of specific nutritional components

- Lifestyle alterations and their impact on neurological health

- Enviromental agents contributing to neuroimmune dysregulation and potential therapeutic intervention

Studies need to comply with the best practice guidelines of the section if plant or fungal extracts or other complex mixtures are investigated including the Four Pillars of Best Practice in Ethnopharmacology. A detailed description of the material studied, its extraction, and processing is essential. You can freely download the full version here. Please self-assess your MS using the ConPhyMP tool, and follow the standards established in the ConPhyMP statement Front. Pharmacol. 13:953205. Please note the traditional context including the primary background and modern uses with supporting references must be included in the manuscript introduction. Purely in silico approaches using complex mixtures (extracts) are generally not considered.
