Neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), pose considerable obstacles in early diagnosis, monitoring disease progression, and developing treatments. This special issue invites high-quality research articles that enhance the identification and utilisation of neurological biomarkers for these disorders. We invite original research, systematic reviews, and novel approaches in the following principal domains:
- Genetic and Molecular Biomarkers: Examining inflammatory indicators, genetic susceptibilities, and molecular risk determinants.
- Neuro-electrophysiological Biomarkers: Analysing EEG, QEEG, and event-related potentials (ERP) for early identification and illness surveillance.
- Neuroimaging Biomarkers: Utilising MRI, PET scans, and brain connectivity assessments for structural and functional insights.
- Neurophysiological Biomarkers: Investigating single-cell recordings and brain activity patterns for mechanistic comprehension.
- Neurocognitive and Behavioural Biomarkers: Detecting initial indicators of cognitive deterioration using neuropsychological evaluations and behavioural assessments.
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Biomarker Research: Employing computational models to identify nuanced patterns indicative of illness development and progression.
- Clinical Applications and Future Directions: Implementing biomarker research into practical diagnostic and treatment approaches.
We invite submissions with innovative perspectives, multidisciplinary methodologies, and practical applications. This special issue seeks to integrate fundamental neuroscience, computational developments, and clinical practice to improve early diagnosis and treatment outcomes for neurodegenerative disorders.
