About this Research Topic

This Research Topic is closed for submissions.

Background

Neurocardiology is an interdisciplinary field that studies the interactions between the nervous and cardiovascular systems, encompassing research across the entire spectrum, from molecular mechanisms to clinical diagnosis and treatment. The disease types in neurocardiology include several major categories: involvement of the nervous and cardiovascular systems caused by common factors, involvement of the cardiovascular system caused by neuropsychiatric abnormalities, and involvement of the nervous system caused by cardiovascular abnormalities. Currently, the diagnosis, treatment, and even rehabilitation of patients with brain–heart comorbidities are challenging, and there is a lack of necessary clinical guidelines.

To gain further insights into neurocardiological approaches in basic and clinical research, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

• Emerging biomarkers for early diagnosis and disease monitoring;
• Biomarkers for disease stratification and clinical management;
• Targeted therapies for Neuro-co-cardiological diseases;
• Molecular pathways in diseases and therapeutic targeting;
• Biomarker validation and clinical implementation.

Keywords: neurocardiac interaction, atherosclerosis, multidisciplinary collaboration, artificial intelligence in healthcare, cardiovascular and neurological disorders

Important note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
