Background

Endothelial dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a critical factor in the progression of metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia. This condition is characterized by a reduction in nitric oxide availability, elevated oxidative stress, and increased vascular permeability, which together contribute to vascular injury and systemic inflammation. These alterations not only enhance the risk of cardiovascular and neurovascular diseases but also exacerbate the underlying metabolic disorder, creating a vicious cycle of worsening health outcomes.

This Research Topic aims to delve deeper into the cellular and molecular mechanisms contributing to endothelial dysfunction within the context of metabolic disorders. It seeks to identify new biomarkers that can aid in the early detection and evaluation of disease progression, and to spotlight innovative therapeutic approaches that could potentially reverse or mitigate these effects.
