The field of genitourinary (GU) oncology has seen significant developments over recent decades, yet challenges in treatment outcomes remain. Current treatments often extend survival but seldom cure, posing ongoing questions about optimal therapeutic options and the necessity for innovative treatment strategies. Patients with GU cancers, including prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers, continue to suffer from high morbidity and mortality rates despite advancements in surgical, radiological, and chemotherapeutic options.
Recent studies have highlighted promising results in the development of novel therapeutics, such as immuno-oncology agents and targeted molecular treatments, which show the potential to enhance patient outcomes. These innovations are derived from a deeper understanding of the molecular and genetic landscapes of GU cancers, enabling researchers to forge new pathways for treatment. However, there continues to be a need for comprehensive understanding of these therapies' efficacy, potential combinations, and long-term impacts on patient health.
This Research Topic aims to explore the burgeoning landscape of novel therapeutics in GU oncology. We seek to uncover the mechanisms underpinning these advancements and understand their true impact on patient care. Our objectives include evaluating the effectiveness of emerging treatments, testing relevant hypotheses, and addressing key questions regarding the integration of these novel agents into existing therapy protocols.
To gather further insights in enhancing GU cancer treatment, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

Please note that manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics or computational analysis of public omics databases that are not supplemented by relevant functional validation (clinical cohort or biological validation, in vitro or in vivo) are out of scope for this Research Topic.
