About this Research Topic

Submission deadlines

  1. Manuscript Submission Deadline 22 March 2026

  2. This Research Topic is currently accepting articles.

Background

This Research Topic aims to highlight cutting-edge developments in basic and translational research within the field of regenerative medicine, with a focus on addressing pediatric diseases. Regenerative medicine holds immense potential to revolutionize the treatment of congenital and acquired conditions in children by harnessing stem cells, tissue engineering, gene therapy, and other innovative approaches. We seek to compile high-quality contributions that advance our understanding of regenerative mechanisms, refine therapeutic strategies, and bridge the gap between preclinical research and clinical applications.

We welcome original research articles, comprehensive reviews, methodological advances, and thought-provoking perspectives that explore the following subtopics (but are not limited to):

1. Stem cell-based regenerative medicine for pediatric diseases: Investigations into pluripotent stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, or other progenitor cells for tissue repair, disease modeling, and cell therapy.

2. Molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying regenerative therapies: Studies elucidating signaling pathways, epigenetic regulation, and cellular interactions that drive tissue regeneration in pediatric conditions.

3. Innovative technologies and strategies in pediatric regenerative medicine:

• AI and machine learning-assisted approaches for optimizing regenerative protocols, predictive modeling, or personalized treatment design.

• Biomaterials, 3D bioprinting, and organoid technologies tailored for pediatric applications.

• Gene editing (e.g., CRISPR-Cas9) and gene therapy for correcting genetic defects in childhood disorders.

4. Preclinical and clinical translational research: Efficacy and safety studies of regenerative therapies, including animal models and early-phase clinical trials.

5. Ethical and regulatory considerations: Discussions on the challenges and opportunities in bringing regenerative therapies to pediatric populations.

By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, this Research Topic will contribute to accelerating breakthroughs in regenerative medicine, ultimately improving outcomes for children with debilitating or life-threatening diseases.
