Background

The field of Human-Media Interaction is increasingly significant as interactive systems become embedded in everyday activities, requiring an understanding of how people engage with both physical and digital media. Addressing this involves the intersection of design, ergonomics, and communication, drawing insights from areas such as information design, human factors, and user-centered design methodologies. While previous studies have explored components in isolation, there remains a gap in comprehensively integrating these disciplines to highlight innovative, user-centric approaches across diverse contexts. This Research Topic aims to bridge this gap and foster a better understanding of how these fields can collectively enhance human experiences.

Through interdisciplinary contributions, this Research Topic seeks to illuminate how human-media interactions can be designed to meet diverse user needs. We aim to explore the integration of ergonomic principles, information design strategies, and communication insights to create media systems that are both functional and meaningful. The objective is to advance discourse around interaction design, emphasizing usability, embodiment, accessibility, and enriching the user experience with media technologies. This goal is driven by the understanding that an interdisciplinary approach can yield richer insights and strengthen the development of inclusive media systems.

The scope of this Research Topic is broad, yet it focuses on integrating perspectives and leveraging innovations from various disciplines. We welcome articles, including original research, review articles, conceptual analyses, and case studies. Themes of interest include, but are not limited to:

- User-centered design and evaluation
- Physical and cognitive ergonomics in interaction
- Visualization and information design strategies
- Accessibility and inclusive design practices
- Embodied interaction techniques
- Communication effectiveness in interactive systems

Contributors from fields such as human-computer interaction, UX design, industrial design, and information visualization are encouraged to submit work that reflects on enhancing human-media interaction. By promoting an interdisciplinary dialogue, this Research Topic aspires to transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries and create integrated solutions for improved human-media interactions.
