Advances and Innovations in Membrane Technologies for Sustainable Applications

As part of the 8th International Symposium on Membrane Technologies and Applications (MEMTEK 2025), to be held on November 12–14, 2025 in Izmir, Türkiye, Frontiers in Membrane Science and Technology is proud to launch a dedicated Research Topic in collaboration with MEMTEK 2025. This collection will focus on the most recent advances, innovative approaches, and future perspectives in the field of membrane science and technology.

This Research Topic aims to provide a multidisciplinary forum for academic and industry researchers to share original research, reviews, and perspectives on the following themes:

Membrane Design, Preparation, and Production: Novel materials, fabrication methods, and system architectures for advanced membrane performance.

Separation Properties and Characterization: Analytical and modeling studies assessing selectivity, permeability, and other key membrane properties.

Applications Across Industries: Membrane-based solutions in water and wastewater treatment, desalination, energy, biotechnology, food, pharmaceuticals, and environmental protection.

Innovative Processes and Environmental Impact: Green processes, energy-efficient separation, circular economy applications, and strategies to minimize ecological footprints.

Insights from Young Researchers: Contributions from students and early-career scientists are especially encouraged to highlight emerging talents in the field.

By connecting fundamental research with practical applications, this topic celebrates both scientific excellence and innovation, showcasing the synergy between academia and industry that defines the spirit of MEMTEK 2025.
