Background

Breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women worldwide, with significant disparities in incidence, molecular subtypes, treatment access, and survival across different regions and populations. The emergence of precision oncology offers unprecedented opportunities to improve diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment outcomes by integrating molecular profiling, biomarker discovery, and tailored therapies.
This Research Topic will focus on bridging global knowledge gaps and fostering inclusive research that reflects population diversity, particularly in underrepresented regions such as Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.
Sub themes this Research Topic welcomes include but are not limited to;
- Genomic and transcriptomic profiling of breast cancer in diverse ethnic and geographic populations
-Predictive and prognostic biomarkers (e.g., BRCA1/2, PIK3CA, HER2, PD-L1)
-Advances in targeted therapy and immunotherapy for breast cancer
-Artificial intelligence and computational approaches in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment planning
- Implementation science: overcoming barriers to precision oncology in low- and middle-income countries
- Clinical trials and real-world evidence in resource-limited settings
- Psychosocial and survivorship aspects in diverse patient populations.
This Research Topic also aims to promote cross-disciplinary research that accelerates equitable precision oncology for breast cancer, ensuring that advancements benefit patients worldwide, regardless of geography or resources.
