Background

Case reports in veterinary regenerative medicine play a vital role in advancing both scientific understanding and clinical practice across species. By capturing unique, rare, or illustrative clinical scenarios—as well as careful observations from more common conditions—these reports provide indispensable insights into disease processes that may be particularly relevant to regenerative interventions.

Detailed, well-documented case narratives can also reveal unexpected responses to cell-based therapies, biologics, extracellular vesicles, biomaterials, or tissue-engineered constructs; illuminate adverse events and risk mitigation strategies; and highlight methodological refinements in sourcing, characterization, dosing, delivery, and follow-up. In doing so, case reports identify gaps in current knowledge, generate new hypotheses, and occasionally challenge prevailing assumptions—thereby catalyzing larger studies and enhancing patient care.

In parallel, Methods articles provide the technical backbone that enables rigor and reproducibility. Standardized protocols for product sourcing and characterization, potency and sterility testing, dosing and delivery, imaging and biomarker assessment, rehabilitation, and follow-up are essential to translate regenerative approaches safely and effectively across species and clinical settings.

This Research Topic aims to establish a prominent and enduring platform for high-quality Case Reports and Methods papers in veterinary regenerative medicine.

We invite submissions that substantially contribute to the understanding, standardization, and clinical application of regenerative approaches in veterinary species. The scope includes, but is not limited to:

-Diseases suited to regenerative approaches

-Reports of regenerative therapies clinically

-Novel imaging or analysis techniques to define clinical efficacy

Authors should disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including affiliations with private clinics, manufacturers, or sponsors involved in the development or provision of regenerative products or services.
