The Endodontics section of Frontiers in Dental Medicine publishes cutting-edge research, reviews and opinion relating to the specialty and aims to advance clinical practice and research. Endodontics is concerned with the study, prevention and treatment of the dental pulp and peri-radicular tissues; this section covers, but is not limited to:
• Basic biology of the pulp
• Pulp repair and regeneration
• Stem cell biology of the dental pulp
• Clinical studies, epidemiological observational studies, reports and trials in endodontics
• Novel endodontic therapies including regenerative endodontics
• Materials interactions with the pulp
• Innervation and angiogenesis in the pulp
• Microbiology of the pulp
• Immunology of the pulp
• Apical microsurgical innovations
• Effects of endodontic disease on systemic health
• Endodontic imaging
• Systematic and focused narrative reviews
All manuscripts must contribute to advances in knowledge in the field of endodontics. Clinical case reports are only considered where they bring substantial new information to the field. Reports dealing solely with the application of pulp stem cells for non-dental applications do not fall within the scope of this section. Aspects relating to materials development for dental application may be more relevant to other specialty sections of Frontiers in Dental Medicine with which we closely collaborate.
